About this deal

Sophie stubbornly refuses, and tells them she needs the space right now, so spending time at her uncle's on the Isle of Skye is perfect.

If someone was asking me for help on what book to read I would say that Frozen Charlotte is a an amazing book. Check out Sleepless by Lou Morgan, also from the Red Eye series - the nightmare begins when you're awake. I love books that really get to you to the point where you actually end up looking over your shoulder and losing sleep over them. A fantastic read that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I would definitely recommend this to all readers looking for a good scare and a murder mystery! After reading this, don’t forget tomorrow to check out the other reviews posted as part of Patti Abbott’s Friday’s Forgotten Books meme over at her fab Pattinase blog.

It’s not something I’ve done myself – my to read pile (like its friend and rival the to watch pile) is too formidable as it stands. After arriving to stay at the house, she can instantly see that something is wrong and each of her cousins is extremely strange. Which, unfortunately for me, I am two years below this age restriction that I set for later readers of this book. The mystery was also pretty engrossing, as I was wanting to find out what really happened to Rebecca the entire book. Sophie's cousin reside in the converted Dunvegan School for Girls, on the rural and dreary Isle of Skye. The catastrophe has impacted each member of the family in a different way but mostly seems to have impacted the youngest child, Lilias.

I would have liked it if the past storyline had woven into the present one a little more, I was expecting there to be more integration of the past and present and there just wasn’t. She approaches the girls and asks them what they are doing and they reply with 'doing what Charlotte told us to do. And although it didn’t necessarily scare me, there were definitely scenes that REALLY creeped me out and had me glancing over my shoulder.

In this extract from the book we join Sophie as she first steps off the ferry onto the Isle of Skye and meets her Uncle James and cousins Piper, Cameron and Lilas. She immediately hits it off with Piper, who is always exuding charm and positivity as she takes over as host and prepares the food and shows her around. Pip has known and liked Sal since childhood; he’d supported her when she was being bullied in middle school. Zoella Book Club pick Frozen Charlotte is a creepy and suspenseful horror story based in an old boarding school on the Isle of Skye. Cameron, on the other hand, is more of a recluse and not particularly friendly either, self-conscious about his scarred hand and bitter about the fact that he can't play the piano anymore.

We have published a new cookies policy, which you should read to find out more about the cookies we use. Unable to ignore the gaps in the case, Pip sets out to prove Sal’s innocence, beginning with interviewing his younger brother, Ravi. Here, she finds a friendly soul in Piper, a standoffish reserve in Cameron and a strange paranoia in little Lilias. Her cousin, Rebecca, who died there almost 8 years ago seems to be haunting the house and there is something very disturbing about Rebecca's old collection of frozen charlotte dolls. She’s sensible but determined, and the more realistic elements of her life mixed in with supernatural elements of the Frozen Charlottes gives the book an eerie touch. For that reason, this makes this not a book suited to a younger audience, as I had previously perceived. But they left something behind…Sophie arrives at the old schoolhouse to spend the summer with her cousins.
